Death by Jealousy is book # 6 in the spectacular Caribbean Murder Mysteries. Spectacular because they are set on picturesque islands and frequently feature larger than life crime. Cindy and Mattheus dump their vacation plans and rush to the Caymans where a bride has gone missing.
Hired by the groom’s family, Cindy and Mattheus stay in a lavish hotel with the rest of the wedding party. It is evident that the groom comes from a moneyed background. Mattheus finds himself slightly out of place and is jealous of all the excesses he sees around him. He is amazed at the amount of money that was being spent on a wedding. Allie, the bride, disappears while scuba diving with the groom. And of course the groom is the prime suspect!
The police question the groom and the wedding party again and again but Allie is still missing. Her parents are holed up in their room. Judging by everyone’s account, Allie was a saint who was totally in love. She doesn’t have a single negative trait, which Cindy finds suspicious. But the secrets start coming out with Cindy’s special brand of questioning. Mattheus is doing the footwork away from the hotel, meanwhile, and schmoozing the police force, something he is good at.
Ugly facts start emerging about Allie, and about her relationship with her soon to be husband. almost every bridesmaid has a hidden agenda. And the groom’s friends do too. Cindy travels to forbidden parts of the island, ones that are far away from the money and elegance in every way. The locals live in anything but luxury, and drugs and smuggling are commonplace. Cindy’s life is in danger, but who is the culprit? Is it the benevolent uncle, the millionaire father, the friends or the groom himself?
Death by Jealousy moves at a fast pace. The theme here is, you guessed it, jealousy, and Cindy and Mattheus battle their own green monsters while solving this mystery. As attractive as the Cayman Islands are as a holiday destination, you will probably think twice before planning a holiday there after you read Death by Jealousy!
