Ladd Springs is set in a small Tennessee town where still waters run deep. Romance and intrigue are interwoven in this story about a feuding family written by Dianne Venetta.
Ladd Springs is hundreds of acres of prime land in rural Tennessee. It boasts natural springs, forests and natural beauty anyone will pay big bucks for. That is why Nick Harris is in love with the property and is trying hard to get the owner to sell it to him. He plans to build ‘Serenity Springs’, a five star eco hotel and spa where the rich and famous will want to stay.
Delaney Wilkins is like a bush woman. She is a single mother raising her daughter. She lives alone on Ladd Springs land in a small cabin that belongs to her mother. The land has been promised to her daughter by her uncle who reigns supreme at the moment. The old man is arrogant and nasty and is now denying her daughter’s rights. Del has only one thing on her mind, and that is to ensure her daughter gets her rightful inheritance.
Ernie Ladd couldn’t be any meaner. He hates women, especially Delaney because she married his arch rival’s son. He is very cozy with Clem Sweeney, the neighbor’s black sheep son and threatens to bequeath everything to Clem.
Delaney spots some strange men in the forest and wonders what they are up to. Things heat up and she is afraid for her life. She forges an unlikely bond with Nick Harris who takes on the role of protector. What is happening on Ladd land? And why is Delaney being attacked?
The story tells us about a bunch of people fighting over the land. There are many claimants who are trying to win Ernie’s favor. On the other hand, Delaney is trying to gather proof that something shady is afoot. Nick Harris is the handsome outsider who gets involved in the whole mess.
Ladd Springs turned out to be a bit different than what I expected. The only thing tranquil about it is the cover. But it is a good read and interesting enough to hold your attention till the end.
