Lee Cooper is back in yet another mystery based in Richmond, VA. The Sunrise Bible Study group volunteer at door-to-door, a charity that provides meals for the home bound. And when someone starts popping off seniors, their indignation and outrage spurs them to solve the mystery.
After The Path of the Crooked, the background plot continues. Ashley is trying hard to have a child. Lee is sweet on Nathan but he is pretty busy with a shady client. Angela is lured by a young hunk at the office who has eyes for Lee. Saturdays are devoted to a new charity where the members deliver food trays to disabled people. The group members learn that some of the seniors have been robbed and some have even been found dead. This triggers their suspicion and they decide to investigate.
Richmond hotspots and lifestyle get center stage once again as the group meets at Cracker Barrel to discuss the result of their investigation. Cooper visits a convict in jail to get some clues and even does some borderline shady things to find out more information. Almost everyone appears to be beyond reproach and this case really has everyone stumped.
The Way of the Wicked has an even larger cast of characters with a lot of the suspects and their life thrown in. Trish and Ashley have health issues, Bryan is finally dating an older woman, Cooper never seems to have a perfect date. But the Sunrise members diligently continue their study into the lfie of Joseph, do their day jobs, volunteer and do some sleuthing. The mystery when it is solved will surprise the best of us. I didn’t see it coming, which says something for the book.
If you enjoyed The Path of the Crooked, you will certainly like the second installment. As I said before, this series is just getting started!
