Ashley Wilkes is back solving a murder on the candlelight tour. I have already reviewed other books in this series and we first met Ashley Wilkes and her sister Melanie in Murder on the Ghost Walk. Ashley is overjoyed when her Victorian house is featured on Wilmington’s Candlelight tour. But her pride is shortlived when her friend Sheldon Mackie is found murdered in the library. Ashley’s elderly surrogate father Binkie is the prime suspect. And she will do anything to exonerate him.
Ashley Wilkes is dating hot cop Nick. Melanie is going around with a sly Fox from Hollywood. Jon is as devoted as ever. And love is blossoming in Ashley’s mother’s life. When Ashley’s friend is murdered, Binkie is arrested. Ashley’s other friend Rachel is killed soon after and Ashley herself faces an attacker and has a head injury. What is so great about the Victorian, and why does someone want to get in? There is talk of gold hidden in the house. And there is also an unsolved robbery from decades ago. New developers out to make a fast buck are out to destroy the beauty of the historical district.
Ashley is wearing many hats as always. Melanie has a few prospective clients and is busy schmoozing them. Sheldon’s widow seems overjoyed at his death, and some shocking revelations are made. Ashley falls back on her healthy appetite when things get to be too much. As usual, the culinary delights are mouth watering making you want to lounge in a seaside eatery yourself, munching on Southern delicacies. Will Ashley solve the murders, and find the ancient treasure? Will she get hot and heavy with boyfriend Nick? Will she spare a thought for Jon?
Murder on the Candlelight Tour is familiar ground for Ashley Wilkes fans. But the mystery is as puzzling as ever, and it will keep you turning pages. As a very biased fan, I totally completely approve of this book. Go get a copy now!
